- Area of cultivation: Hills of Chieti – Maiella slopes
- Origin of the grape variety: Its origins are still uncertain, although it has been present in the ampelographic heritage of Abruzzo’s native grape varieties for centuries. It is grown almost exclusively in the province of Chieti and in a few areas of Teramo. Following the routes of transhumance, it has spread to some places in northern Apulia
- Alcohol content: 12.5% ABV
- Soil: Medium mixture – limestone
- Altimetry and exposure: Altitude and exposure: 432 m.a.s.l.
- Age of vineyards: 15-20 years
- Vine training system: Pergola Abruzzese
- Harvest: Manual
- Vinification: Grapes are harvested by hand in mid-September when the grapes have an acid content that ensures freshness to the wine. Fermentation is conducted at a controlled temperature. Maturation at the end of fermentation on good lees causes the wine to acquire complex and important tones
- Sight: Faint straw yellow with greenish reflections
- Smell: Fragrances of raspberries, pomegranate and balsamic tones. Net savory and tannic sensation demonstrating the wine’s great vitality
- Taste: Impetuous flavor attack with fruity and floral notes linked to a present but well integrated tannin. The acid backbone makes it chisel and fresh
- Food and wine pairing: Perfect with appetizers and fish soups, fish-based first courses, delicate cheeses, roasts as long as they are light and non-demanding dishes.
